Self-awareness and life purpose are vital to our sense of well being. Thus, connecting my WHO to my WHY is a critical aspect of life success.
I think it’s easier to maintain motivation, thus energy for life, when I have a very clear sense of my God-given life purpose, my WHY.
But, before I begin to pursue that WHY, I need a clear sense of WHO I am. That is, I need to deeply understand my authentic self.
As I like to say, Begin With WHO!
Fact is, Solomon places strong emphasis on knowing yourself and transforming yourself.
Repeatedly, he asks us to have a learner’s attitude. Then, that learning is applied to heart or character transformation.
For some examples of the focus on character transformation, see Proverbs 2.2, 3.3, 4.4, and 6.21. We are instructed to write the precepts on our hearts.
Thus, make these fundamental life principles the focus of your character development.
Know your authentic self, your WHO. Then, use your distinctive voice to live, write, and speak your life passion! proverbsforprofessionals.net
Moving From WHO to WHY
So, one place to start is by asking how an activity fits into my current life purpose. And, how does this life interest support who I am as a person.
Here WHO precedes WHY. In turn, my WHY will reveal to me areas of passion.
Consequently, I may very well need to change my level of engagement with something if other things have higher priority in my life right now.
Obviously, I visualize my life purpose as driving my priorities. Those life priorities, in turn, feed into my goals.
Finally, goals are the HOW that carry me to my WHY.
In short, my daily actions – WHAT I do – are driven by passion and purpose. Each of us gets to decide what our passions and purposes are. No one else can answer for us.
Apply This Today!
Knowing my WHO positions me to build traits such as self-awareness, self-worth, and self-confidence.
I agree that WHO and WHY interact with each other. Thus, some readers will argue that knowing our WHY drives us to grow our WHO to meet that life purpose.
Similarly, some will dispute the order of life purpose and life’s passion.
Rather than argue about the order of things, I suggest we agree that knowing WHO we are and WHY we are here are two essentials for living a fulfilled life.
Wherefore, live with purpose, on purpose!
