The Precept

Humility suggests that I’m teachable. That is, I’m open to the wise counsel of others.

But, more critically, I’m sensitive to God’s directing in my life.

In fact, verses such as Proverbs 1.7, 9.10, and 15.33 all teach that reverence is the entry point into knowing wisdom.

Moreover, in Proverbs 22.4, humility and reverence pair to produce several benefits, including influence. That same pattern repeats in Proverbs 29.23.

As such, according to Proverbs 15.33, humility is a prerequisite to being influential.
