A destructive career can be an acceptable lifestyle by neglecting to count the costs of those lifestyle choices.
This blog post contains my LinkedIn daily posts for November 28 through December 11, 2022.
Be Less Than You Can Be!
Mediocre is a deliberate choice.
We choose it by choosing not to grow:
1). It’s safe; doesn’t involve risks or demand growth.
2). We accept false narratives like not smart enough or not “fill in the blank” enough.
3). We don’t recognize we have choices, thus don’t live proactively by making deliberate choices.
Today’s Observation: These limiting beliefs leave us right where we are! Don’t live that way!
The Precept: Proverbs 18.13 encourages us to get the facts before forming an opinion.
A Question: What life practices help you to side-step these limiting beliefs?
We persist when we are convinced about the transforming value of our life vision. Conversely, we fail when we refuse to reflect and learn. As such, failure isn’t the outcome; instead the outcome is our lack of response to life events. proverbsforprofessionals.net
What’s the Value of Self-care?
No self-care leaves us empty.
There’s no overflow from us to give to others.
Today’s Observation: Self-care requires us to say NO to things that aren’t a priority.
The Precept: See Proverbs 23.29-35 for traits of a destructive lifestyle.
A Question: What allows you to say NO to requests that don’t fit your life priorities?
Introvert Tip: Measuring Success
One measure of success is the fulfillment we get by our impact in the lives of others.
We “hear” that impact through comments people make about us and to us!
Today’s Observation: Introverts can live successful and impactful lives. Find your point of impact and do just that!
A Question: What drives you to engage in the lives of those around you?
Never violate WHO you are for WHAT you want to accomplish. Similarly, don’t violate personal VALUES for any gain. Remember, beneficial ends don’t justify destructive means. proverbsforprofessionals.net
Count the Costs
A destructive career can be an acceptable lifestyle.
How? By neglecting to count the costs.
An ancient precept says we’re convinced we are doing the right thing, but the result is destructive. See Proverbs 14:12.
Some risk all for success, but should ask:
1). What I’m doing
2). Why I’m doing it
3). The costs involved

How Purpose Drives Priorities
Once I know my life purpose I can set priorities.
I live out those priorities by setting goals.
Today’s Observation: Priorities are the basis for saying NO because there’s a bigger, purpose-driven YES.
The Precept: Proverbs 11.5 connects reverence (“righteousness”) and knowing life purpose (“the perfect”) with direction in life (“direct his way”).
A Question: How do you connect priorities and goals?
My life story has power when I deeply understand the divinely-appointed WHY that’s behind the incidents in life that make up that story! proverbsforprofessionals.net
What’s Your Voice Meant For?
One answer: voice is the distinctive competency we each possess. It’s the value we share with others.
“Meant for” is when I share, influence, and minister to others.
Today’s Observation: My voice stays unused if I refuse to engage in growth and sharing.
A Question: What outlets do you use for sharing your voice?
The Precept: Unused talents are lost, to us and others according the the parable in Matthew 25:14-30.
One aspect of a life lived in balance is the ability to value yourself without falling into self-consumption or arrogance. proverbsforprofessionals.net
How Do You Define Influence?
My view: Influence is consistently sharing impactful content that touches the needs of others.
An Observation: Impactful content comes as I convert daily experiences into practical insights.
Now your turn. Define influence.
We must begin with WHO we are because our self-awareness comes before our ability to make sense of things, hence to influence others. proverbsforprofessionals.net
