We hear lots of suggestions, or hacks, for greater productivity. So what? Let’s examine living above the hacks.

Where We Focus

Productivity hacks aren’t inherently bad. Increasing productivity is valuable.

However, when we focus on productivity alone we lose sight of a much more critical issue – why we’re doing what we’re doing.

Fact is, sometimes we stop doing things because they no longer fit our purpose, thus our strategic direction.

Here the critical question is: Why am I doing this?

What We’re Missing

Beyond strategic importance, focusing on hacks overlooks who we are. Thus, we ignore our voice, which expresses our authentic self.

We’re too busy chasing productivity. We forget who we are. Consequently, we’re so consumed with KNOWING and DOING that we forget the importance of BEING.

Here the critical question is: Who is my authentic self?

Growth and productivity hacks overlook the value of our own voice, and then consistently being and sharing that authentic self. The fix? Stop DOING to the exclusion of BEING. proverbsforprofessionals.net

Where We’re Going

Knowing our authentic self is important. But, more important is how we’re using our voice, the expression of our authentic self, as we pursue life’s purpose.

As such, where we’re going is evidence of our WHY – our purpose in life. In a best-case scenario, we’re living with a clear sense of life purpose. Moreover, that purpose is the essence of our BEING – of who we are at our core.

Proverbs 3.2 lists three benefits of keeping what we KNOW and what we DO in balance: greater productivity, a longer life, and peace. Proverbs 3.16 expands that list to include abundance and influence. Living in balance pays well because it impacts our BEING! proverbsforprofessionals.net

Apply This Today!

There’s no value in great productivity while doing the wrong things! Truly, busy work is a poor substitute for living with clarity of purpose.

When we live with purpose – on purpose, our life is most impactful and influential. We make a difference in the lives of others!

Knowing our authentic self means we’re self-aware. Thus, we’ve done the hard work of recognizing and valuing who we are at our core.

Awareness of who we are right now doesn’t preclude envisioning and pursuing our future self.

A Question to Consider

What disciplines, such as daily or weekly personal debriefings, eliminate the noise of daily life so you have time for living above the hacks?
