It’s great for us to have life insights. But, it’s even better when we share those insights with others. Share it or lose it applies to what we know!

What A Thought!

If we’re learning from life, we are — at the same time — accumulating ideas that are worth sharing.

But, here’s the catch. Where do those ideas and observations go?

We can write them down in a journal, never to be seen again unless we go back and review them later.

Better yet, we can share those ideas with others. In turn, we hear feedback and refine the ideas. As such, the ideas begin to multiply in their value.

The Downside

Ok, what happens if I never share my ideas?

The outcome is they stay in my head, soon to be forgotten. The life learning that could have had an impact winds up being lost — to me and to others.

Now what? With no permanent learning and sharing, I must relearn what was observed earlier.

Thus, I get myself stuck in a loop of having experiences but walking away with no reusable insights!

Unshared and consequently unlearned life insights have no impact, thus no influence on myself or others! proverbsforprofessionals.net

The Precept

In Proverbs 5.1 Solomon says “My son, attend to my wisdom and bow your ear to my understanding.” He’s sharing what he has learned through experience.

He’s asking us to pay attention. To listen.

But, to what end? In Proverbs 5.2 the outcome of paying attention is that we’re able to think deeply about the choices we make.

What types of choices? In the conversation that follows he talks about the serious impact of making poor choices in our relationships.

In Proverbs 5.12 he say “…How have I hated instruction…” Thus, we simply don’t listen to good advice. As a result, we make poor choices, then suffer damaging outcomes.

Indeed, our thinking and our actions certainly have consequences. Often, those consequences are unanticipated!

I sow by building experiential insights. Then, I reap discretion. As a result, I reduce my chances of getting into trouble! proverbsforprofessionals.net

Apply This Today!

Sharing from our own experience can be impactful IF we’ve learned something. And, IF we’re willing to share what we’ve learned.

Indeed, that Learn-Share model is impactful only IF we choose to use it.
