Abraham believed God who makes the dead alive and who calls things that are not as though they were. Romans 4.17 paraphrase, proverbsforprofessionals.net
What do I see?
As humans, we see things that presently are not as if they will never be. Conversely, God sees things that are not as if they already were!
When we’re unable to see a way forward it’s because our present situation seems impossible. Fact is, the present is impossible when we’re acting in our own power. However, divine power makes the impossible a present-tense event. That change of perspective is an outcome of faith – – our personal faith in God!
What does God see?
When we see things that presently are not, as if they were, we’re envisioning what God wants us to. As such, our perspective is changed to match what God desires. But, there are two contingencies for faith in the present tense. What we envision for our life must match what’s in God’s will and what’s in God’s timing for us at this point in time.
How long does this take?
Ok, if we change our perspective today, does everything dramatically change tomorrow? Well, it may take a bit longer than that! Truly, inner transformation isn’t an instant process. Instead, it takes time for us to grow. In short, we need time to be transformed into that person who is capable of carrying out what God desires for our future self to be doing.
An Observation to Apply
We must allow God to shape our envisioned self into someone who already is. In so doing, we’re positioned to pursue a life which, according to Ephesians 3.20, is “…exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think…” That’s living our faith in the present tense!
A Question to Consider
What helps you move from seeing the impossible to seeing that which is already happening?
