For discovering life purpose, begin with WHO you are. That clear understanding of WHO positions you to recognize how you best impact those around you.
So, how do we know our purpose?
Well, knowing our life purpose demands we first know our WHO. We have a clear understanding of our strengths and weaknesses, as well as the unique value we offer to others by WHO we are.
Purpose in practice
Once we recognize what our best self offers, we are prepared to use that WHO in interactions with people around us every day.
As a result, our occupation is simply an outlet for living out that best self.
Purpose is what we find ourselves doing each day. It’s that which we are compelled to do. Interestingly, others may notice our “typical” behavior before we do!
Moreover, as a person of faith, think of purpose as how God empowers you to engage with life and with others.
And better yet, to impact people around you. For example, by being an encourager, or someone who offers care, or a motivator. Or, you fill in the blank based on your WHO, which is your divine giftedness.
Purpose and priorities
By the way, knowing your WHY or life purpose is necessary if you are to set priorities.
In other words, when I know my purpose I can then create priorities, as expressed by goals and boundaries.
Priorities are the foundation, the rationale, for saying NO! I say No because there’s bigger YES for me that’s driven by my life purpose.
