For some, it’s all about career. For others, about that one, special relationship. So, how do you define fulfilled?

This blog post contains my personal LinkedIn posts for July 25 through July 31, 2022.

What balance looks like

Here’s one path to a balanced life:

1). Pair critical thinking with discernment to have good judgment.
2). Good judgment yields sound decisions.
3). Sound decisions drive wise behavior.

Hence, a balanced life. I act right because I think right.

The process of personal growth is hard work, but very rewarding, as we persist toward the vision of who we can become! proverbsforprofessionals.net

Today’s Observation: I attain this balance through a growth mindset, believing I can grow personally, professionally, and spiritually.

The Precept: The source of this “life in balance” template is Proverbs 1.2-6. Solomon encourages us “to know wisdom” that’s defined in terms of knowing, doing, and being.

How do you define critical thinking?

Fulfillment is an outcome!

1). Know yourself by beginning with WHO

2). Commit to growth, becoming a more capable version of yourself

3). Pursue your life purpose with energy, focus, and self-confidence by knowing your WHY

4). Accomplish that purpose through the HOW of goals and priorities

5). As we grow, we increase our capacity to give back by the WHAT of daily habits

We are best positioned to give back to and influence others when we know WHO we are, then stay true to that unique self! proverbsforprofessionals.net

Today’s Observation: Fulfillment is an outcome of living a purpose-driven life.

The Precept: Proverbs 2.21 teaches that those who know their WHY (“the perfect”) enjoy stability.

How do you define fulfilled?

For some, it’s all about career. For others, about that one, special relationship.

Still others view fulfillment in terms of life experiences, such as travel.

Certainly it’s more than reaching a target audience for the content we create on LinkedIn.

Here are three critical “I AM” acknowledgements that contribute to a fulfilled life:

1). I am responsible for my life outcomes
2). I am capable of accomplishing my deep desires
3). I am living with purpose, on purpose!

Today’s Observation: I suspect fulfillment extends to that place where we feel most comfortable and engaged. As such, it’s the place where we are carrying out our life purpose.

The Precept: Psalm 34.12 asks the eternal question, “Who doesn’t want a good life?” The verses that follow provide the answer, in terms of doing good and seeking peace.

So, how do you define “fulfilled”?

How to make the transition from work to home?

1). Use the commute for reflection, getting yourself quiet, and to disconnect.

2). Turn-on the email auto response as you walk out so people don’t expect an immediate response.

3). Once home, stay off the cell phone until after dinner/kids in bed/time with partner-spouse.

4). Expect immediate questions/issues at home that are waiting for you.

We become what we consistently focus on, so choose that focus point wisely! proverbsforprofessionals.net

Today’s Observation: The first few minutes inside the house are really important as they set the tone for what follows in the next couple of hours.

These aren’t big ideas but reducing small stressors can help with accumulated stress.

The Precept: Proverbs 15.17 suggests that peace at home is better than great wealth but discord.

What are your best practices for the work-to-home transition?

Introvert Tip: Quiet but effective!

As introverts, we tend to be quiet and thoughtful. BUT, we can still enjoy career success.

We should not confuse our reserved nature with an inability to be assertive and accomplished.

I know from personal experience as an introverted leader that it’s possible to enjoy career success by:
1). Developing your distinctive voice,
2). Extending your influence, and
3). Creating an executive presence.

Plus, you don’t have to abandon who you are to build those skills.

We are intentionally becoming exactly who we believe ourselves to be! proverbsforprofessionals.net

Today’s Question: For my fellow introverts, what personal growth activities have helped you develop an executive presence?

What potential do you see inside yourself?

Fact is, we see what’s inside of us right now.

But as we grow, we become more self-aware. Thus more self-observant.

Because of that growth we see new potential – we see ourselves for what we can become!

My potential for personal and professional growth isn’t capped by my human limitations. Instead, the cap or lid on my growth is my lack of vision for who I can become. I simply don’t see what’s possible!

Similarly, even when I recognize my life purpose, the cap is my lack of persistence in going after that vision.

Today’s Question: What’s changed about your self-perception as a result of personal growth?

Free for an unlimited time!

Unlike some TV offers, wisdom is available forever!

You don’t have to call within the next 5 minutes!

Wisdom is universal. It’s a public good that’s freely available to everyone.

It’s one thing to know where I’m going, but something very different to have clarity about why I want to go there! proverbsforprofessionals.net

Today’s Observation: Wisdom turns into precept when packaged in a way others can easily grasp and quickly apply.

Impactful leaders are effective in identifying the wisdom that’s missed, or misinterpreted, by others.

The Precept: In Proverbs 8.1-5 wisdom, portrayed as a female, asks us to exchange our shallowness and overconfidence for subtlety and discernment.

What daily practices help you tell the difference between signal and noise?
