It’s good for us to desire growth and change. But, we must know where personal transformation begins. Let’s discuss.

Some Options

Our desire to pursue personal transformation may be triggered by a life crisis, such as a job loss, death of a loved one, or an addiction.

But, where do we begin that transformation process? Here are some possibilities, we can:

1). (Re)examine our core values

2). Push to discover our life’s purpose

3). Revisit past life experiences to find recurring patterns and root causes

4). Change our habits

5). Seek a spiritual awakening.

Fact is, there’s no single, correct answer to the “where transformation begins” question.

Begin With WHO

Ultimately, transformation begins inside of us with who we are. As such, we Begin With Who.

Thus, the transformation process is grounded in self-awareness and self-acceptance.

So, for me, who I am is an introvert. You know, linear, factual, and logical. Consequently, intuition isn’t my strength!

I believe we must know who we are. And then, we must value that authentic self. An outcome is we’re positioned to recognize and pursue our life purpose – – our why – – for this present season of life.

Proverbs 4.1-4 encourages this deep, inner examination, using terms like: …hear …make sense of …get this into your heart (character) …obey.

But why? according to Proverbs 4.19 it’s so that we don’t stumble around in the dark!

Who I am right now, at this point in my life, will become who I once was in the future IF I’m committed to personal growth. proverbsforprofessionals.net

Self-awareness keeps us from pursuing a lifestyle that’s inconsistent with our authentic self.

Self-worth enables us to pursue our envisioned self with confidence and focus.

One risk of self-examination is we fall back in fear. We don’t want to take the risk. We choose not to move forward toward our envisioned, impactful, and influential self. Thus, we stay right where we are.

Now, back to where we started – – where transformation begins. Personal transformation begins inside of us. However, just like happiness and fulfillment, transformation requires that we stop searching outside of us for that which is already inside of us. That potential self is waiting to be discovered and developed.
