Life changes should involve transitioning with purpose, on purpose. Let’s discuss!

Life Transitions

Life is a series of transitions. Career changes are an example. But transitions can include things like marriage, divorce, having children, financial setbacks, health scares, death of a family member or a friend, or retirement.

Some transitions are planned; others are forced on us. For now, let’s focus on planned, thus controllable, life transitions.

Transitioning With Purpose

Often, we’re deliberate in planning a life transition. For example, I made a midlife career transition decades ago. We chose, as a family, to live with purpose, on purpose. We knew what we wanted and pursued it, on purpose.

That career change was deliberate, thus carefully planned. The transition was difficult but we knew what we were getting into. Actually, that fulfilling career transition lasted thirty years.

From Proverbs 21.5 we learn that the thoughts, hence plans or strategies, of a decisive person bring abundance. An abundance mindset produces an abundant life! proverbsforprofessionals.net

A Personal Reflection

For me, midlife was decades ago. Let’s discuss a more recent transition – retirement. Retirement can be a time of significant change instead of a simple, peaceful transition from work.

It’s good for us to be clear about repurposing as a retiree, in order to provide structure to our new life. Similarly, your partner should be intentional about engaging in activities he/she finds meaningful.

Moreover, it’s best to assume that one or both partners will continue to grow personally in retirement. Hence change, in the form of personal transformation, is built into retirement.

We’re in a good place emotionally and spiritually when the vision for our future self is firmly grounded in our highest purpose for life. proverbsforprofessionals.net

Late in my career my mentor said repurpose don’t retire. I did just that through my blog and the sharing I do on LinkedIn.

It’s good for us to ask “Why am I doing this?” That question indicates we’re living intentionally, that is, with purpose, on purpose.

Our personal faith is of significant value for both the planned and the uncontrolled divinely-appointed transitions that we face.

A Question to Consider

If you’re in a life transition right now share with us how you got there. Any surprises?
