The language of faith includes terms such as salvation, sanctification, and eternal life. This lesson series examines characteristics of God related to these concepts. More specifically, this post discusses how God rewards my faith in Him.

Key Passage: Hebrews 11.1-6

Faith means I have confidence in receiving what I hope for (Hebrews 11.1). In fact, it means I’m convinced even though I haven’t seen (Hebrews 11.1)!

Faith has worked for all prior generations of believers (Hebrews 11.2). For example, their belief and our belief in divine creation is a matter of faith (Hebrews 11.3).

Right now, we bring acceptable offerings to God by faith (Hebrews 11.4), as an expression of our righteousness.

Likewise, in the future – by faith, I look forward to resurrection (Hebrews 11.5) because God rewards my faith in Him.

Some Insights

I approach God in faith (Hebrews 11.6), which pleases Him.

Likewise, my practical service to others pleases God (Hebrews 13.16), as does my obedience (1 John 3.22).

I enjoy God’s presence with me when I do those things that please God. John 8.29 paraphrase

Conversely, God pushes back at my pride. For instance, see Proverbs 3.34 as quoted in James 4.6.

Additionally, I must have faith that God exists (Hebrews 11.6). Also, that God rewards my faith in Him as well as my desire to seek Him (Hebrews 11.6).

Moreover, God expects me to seek Him (Acts 15.17), although few do that (Romans 3.11).

What’s worse, some life choices simply aren’t reversible, regardless of how hard we seek a way out (Hebrews 12.17).

Apply These Precepts

A life of hope in God and conviction about His work on my behalf is evidence of faith. Actually, that personal faith brings me a “good report” from God (Hebrews 11.2 and Hebrews 11.39).

First, faith has worked, for me and others, in the past (Hebrews 11.2-3).

Second, it’s working now in the present (Hebrews 11.4 and Hebrews 11.6).

Third, faith will work for me in the future (Hebrews 11.5) because God rewards my faith in Him!
