Precepts – as old as the hills! Proverbs 8.25

Truth is, there are any number of possible responses. However, without resilience I limit my ability to grow through difficulty.

Admittedly, difficulty tests me. But, it can also refine me.

Moreover, according to Proverbs 27.21, that character change is similar to the refining of precious metals.

In short, the process involves heat, melting, and then useful change as a result. Likewise, in life, the heat of challenging circumstances should produce growth in me, if I’m resilient.

Similarly, I exhibit resilient by getting back up after failing.

Although the process is trying, the outcome of a challenging experience can be beneficial!

Grow Through Difficulty

Now, while I’m in a situation I must look for good in possible outcomes. Also, I need to reflect on what I’m learning at that time.

Actually, Solomon believed a test sets me up for better things. For example read Proverbs 27.21 as paraphrased above. But, one assumption is I’m willing to take a slow-and-steady outlook on growth.

As well, he notes in Proverbs 17.3 how God controls our life experiences. And, in both Proverbs 17.3 and 27.21 he mentions a crucible, thus high heat to produce melting.

In turn, Solomon identified Israel’s experience in Egypt as a “furnace of iron” in First Kings 8.51, there quoting Deuteronomy 4.20. Ok, this is hindsight which is the easy part!

The Lord uses difficult experiences to refine my character. Proverbs 17.3 paraphrase

Apply This Today!

The resilient grow through difficulty, if they choose to persist.

Fact is, I don’t have to be refined through challenging circumstances. Instead, I can learn nothing at all!

Clearly, the heat of circumstances is easy to write about but difficult to deal with in the moment. Hence, the need for a change of perspective to see beyond the immediate.
