Knowledge is power. But knowledge is more than accumulated facts. Instead, it includes the wise advice of others. Thus, to multiple efforts, multiply knowledge!
We’ve all heard “knowledge is power.” In general, it means the more you know the better equipped you are to act decisively and wisely. But, how do I grow knowledge?
The Essentials
Well, I grow knowledge several ways, including individual study. Also, by asking for and accepting good advice.
Now, sound advice puts me in touch with the experiences and insights of others who’ve been-there-done-that. However, the assumption here is I’m humble enough to accept advice from others. That is, I’m teachable. Conversely, I’m not a know-it-all!
Likewise, Proverbs 24.5 says the wise are strong. Thus, the ancient basis for “knowledge is power.”
In addition, it says factual knowledge multiplies my strength. Then, Proverbs 24.6 adds that wise counsel is a great source of knowledge.
Let’s focus on the last half of verse 5: “…a person of knowledge multiplies their efforts.”
In short, this precept teaches about the knowledge, or fact finding, or sense making process. That process includes getting advice and forming a consensus. Why do this? Because it multiplies my efforts.
The effort I expend on an initiative can result in dramatically increased outcomes if I recognize that the knowledge of wise counsel is multiplied power.

It’s Ok to ask for help! Even if you’re the leader!
Actually, asking for help assumes that I’m discerning enough to differentiate good advice from poor advice! So, knowledge is necessary but not sufficient.
This proverbs emphasizes the importance of a strong team around a leader. Plus, it assumes the leader is a learner who listens and responds.
Remember, to multiply efforts, multiply knowledge!
