It’s critical to begin with WHY as an organization. That is, members/associates/employees must have a clear vision for the work they are to accomplish.
This blog post contains my personal LinkedIn posts for March 28 through April 2, 2022.
Get over yourself!
Wisdom isn’t native intelligence.
Or common sense.
So, get over yourself!
Today’s Observation: Wisdom is about my willingness to learn from experience. Then, build fundamental traits such as discretion and discernment.
The Precept: In Proverbs 2.6 wisdom is defined in terms of the Know-Do-Be mental model. Wisdom is what you know paired with what you can do with what you know, as guided by integrity.
Clearly-defined personal values, when guided by reverence, produce in me character change. In fact, the change is both long-lasting and highly profitable! proverbsforprofessionals.net
Impactful leadership
There’s a widely used phrase “Leadership is Influence.”
As such, leadership is not positional. That is, not a title or an office.
Some think leadership is positional. But, if you don’t check your ego, a title goes to your head quickly.
Today’s Observation: Authority strokes the ego, whereas impactful leadership relies on influence. Thus, focus on your influence as a leader, not your authority.
The Precept: From Proverbs 28.2 we learn that mediocre leaders are a dime a dozen, whereas discerning leaders are truly impactful. Discernment is an important aspect of the balanced life.
Excessive self-trust is destructive. So, get a grip by living a balanced life. Proverbsforprofessionals.net
Your profile is of interest!
Recently I received a DM that began “I’m Head of Operations at Standard Chartered Bank, Hong Kong, Ltd.
They went on to explain that since I had the same last name as the deceased they represent as their personal accountant I could split with them $22.5M for helping to move the funds.
Of course, everything is perfectly legal given their position at the bank!
Today’s Question: I haven’t seen one of these scams in years. Anyone else getting similar requests?
The Precept: Proverbs 14.15 tells us that the simple minded believe everything they are told!
Begin with WHY as an organization!
It’s critical for an organization to understand its WHY.
That is, members/associates/employees must have a clear vision for the work they are to accomplish.
Without that vision – the WHY, the mission and supporting goals don’t provide direction because there’s no guidepost.
Today’s Observation: An organization that knows it’s WHY recognizes its reason for existence. That’s a good thing!
The Precept: From Proverbs 29.18 we learn that “no vision” is deadly for a group of people.
Begin with WHO personally!
Organizations begin with WHY.
However, I believe individuals begin with WHO.
Personally, my WHY is sharing what I’ve learned over the course of my professional career. Hence, these posts and my blog.
My WHY is grounded in an understanding of WHO I am inside.
Today’s Observation: Individuals begin with WHO. How? By building a deep sense of self-awareness, which in turn, guides us toward our WHY, or life purpose.
The Precept: In Proverbs 4.4 we learn that precept-driven growth first transforms WHO we are – our character. Knowing WHO prepares us to understand our WHY as revealed later in that same chapter, Proverbs 4.18.
