Precepts – as old as the hills! Proverbs 8.25

While I’m building a career, wealth, and influence, am I developing my character?

Well, Proverbs 2.21 describes a life of purpose and stability. In fact, a life that’s rightly related to God.

Before this, Proverbs 2.1-11 pictures an abundant life. As expected, it’s characterized by reverence.

As well as by intentional personal growth. And, by clearly-defined values.

Also, by deep discernment and interpersonal discretion.

Finally, by sound judgment that’s marked by equitable treatment of others.

An Abundant Life

Therefore, an abundant life avoids the common pitfalls that derail others because of a lack of reverence.

Problems include taking bad advice or pursuing an inappropriate relationship, as explained in Proverbs 2.12-20.

What’s more, the abundant life is “perfect” because it identifies and accomplishes its ultimate, God-given purpose.

A Perfect Life

None of us are perfect in the sense of having no flaws.

However, we all can develop a just character that’s fair to others.

More specifically, perfection is more often expressed as finding my God-given purpose for life. In fact, that purpose is an outcome of a right relationship with God.

As a result, when I follow God’s purpose for my life, I enjoy good, Proverbs 28.10. Additionally, that good includes God’s protection, Proverbs 28.18.

To find life purpose and clear direction, pursue righteousness. Otherwise, I risk failure. Proverbs 11.5 paraphrase

Apply this Today!

Clean living does pay off, but character change is required.

As such, I sow wisdom and experiential insight into my character – on purpose! In turn, I reap a life that’s abundant and filled with God-given purpose!

So, what’s your purpose in life?
