The Essentials

Can I push too hard? That is, extend myself beyond reasonable bounds? And, in so doing take foolish chances that are excessively risky?

No, not just when I’m 18!

That said, I don’t think there’s a clear line between healthy self-confidence and being foolishly overconfident.

Here are three warning signs that I’m pushing too hard:

1). I lack a discerning character to know right from wrong. thus, there are no boundaries on my actions.

2). I ignore obvious warning signs that turn off or push away others.

3). My life is habitually out of balance. Therefore, I’ve become a do-anything person who lacks reverence and doesn’t think critically. I lack discernment, thus behave inappropriately.

What’s the outcome of these excesses? Well, my uncritical, careless, and clueless life isn’t sustainable. But, my state of mind prevents me from recognizing the excessive risks I’m taking.
