What comes out of a life of hope and spiritual renewal that then focuses on ministry to others? As it turns out, in First Peter Chapter 2 I learn how spiritual growth empowers me.

Most practically, a life of hope and spiritual renewal focuses on ministry to others.
Actually, in First Peter Chapter 2 I learn how spiritual growth empowers me because the “Wherefore” in First Peter 2.1 signals a change in direction. There, Peter focuses on our ministry.
Some Insights
Surprisingly, Peter warns about negative traits in First Peter 2.1. Thus, despite salvation and renewal, believers must be careful about improper attitudes such as hatred and envy.
Who, me? Seriously? …
Instead, believers are to be growth oriented through study of scripture, First Peter 2.2-3.
Moreover, coming out of that growth is practical ministry to others, First Peter 2.5. In fact, my ministry is pictured as an offering: “…to offer up spiritual sacrifices…”
However, my attitude in giving cannot be self-righteous. Hence, “mercy and not sacrifice” in Matthew 9.13.
The sacrifice God really wants is my penitent character. Psalm 51.17 paraphrase
Being a Light
Unfortunately, some lack faith in Christ, First Peter 2.7. Thus, they refuse to be changed by God’s word, First Peter 2.8.
In contrast, believers have been changed, First Peter 2.9, “…out of darkness into light.”
You’re the light of the world; a city on a hill that’s not hidden! Matthew 5.14 paraphrase
As a result, that character transformation changes how I behave. In addition, spiritual growth empowers me for that change of behavior!
So, How Should I Behave?
Well, in First Peter 2.11 – 3.7 he offers areas where my faith can have practical impact.
My walk of faith should impact me regarding:
1). Purity, First Peter 2.11
2). Good works, First Peter 2.12
3). Obeying civil law, First Peter 2.13-17
4). Work ethic, First Peter 2.18-19
5). Endurance, First Peter 2.20-25
6). Family life, First Peter 3.1-7.
In other words, spiritual growth empowers me to “see good days” in multiple aspects of my life.
Moreover, If I know and apply the truths, then spiritual growth will impact my character and what I do. Hence, know-do-be!
Apply These Precepts
First, my ministry activity is an acceptable offering to God when given with a right attitude.
Second, my life of faith should follow me all day, everywhere that I go! However, spiritual growth empowers me only to the extent that I choose for it to do so.
