There’s always room for growth. Every one of us can grow, personally and professionally, if we are intentional. So, Yes, I can grow!

This blog post contains my personal LinkedIn entries for March 14 through March 20, 2022.

Do ends justify means?

Can we justify any outrageous behavior under the guise of believing our ends are justifiable?

Today’s Observation: For some, any activity is justified in order to reach their desired end point.

Ends don’t justify ungodly means, no matter how powerful the person is who says they do! proverbsforprofessionals.net

There’s a conversation with God, recorded in First Kings 3.9. There, Solomon asked God for the discernment to know right from wrong so he could lead effectively. Therefore, discernment drives wise behavior.

What do you know?

Knowing is important. I must know What, Why, When.

Knowing must come before doing. A balanced, precept-driven life gets this order correct.

Today’s Observation: Doing without first knowing is simply “Ready – Fire – Aim.”

Being impacts our doing. Conversely, intentional doing impacts out state of being! proverbsforprofessionals.net

Proverbs 9.17 is the perverse argument that we’re not accountable, thus what integrity says really isn’t true! Fact is, although we can DO thoughtlessly, that carelessness eventually catches up with us.

What comes before success?

We read lots of transformation stories on LinkedIn. That’s the “After.”

What we don’t see are the two Before conditions.

The First Before is unrest and dissatisfaction.

The Second Before follows a break-point and a decision to change.

The Second Before is marked by a long period of intentional personal and professional growth.

Today’s Question: Are you currently living in a Before stage of life?

Proverbs 2.8 teaches that good judgment is one outcome of choosing intentional growth.

Begin with WHO!

Personal transformation begins with WHO – with a clear sense of self.

Conversely, transformation doesn’t begin with WHY – my life purpose.

Moreover, transformation doesn’t begin with WHAT – my habits.

Today’s Observation: WHY and WHAT are certainly important, but only after I have a clear sense of WHO I am, the value I add, and thus my sense of self-worth.

According to Proverbs 2.2 we are to focus on character transformation as evidenced by building experiential insight. Hence, the balanced life is about heart not head!

Yes, I can grow!

Lee Evans uses the term “striver” to indicate that none of us has arrived!

There’s always room for growth.

Today’s Observation: Every one of us can grow, personally and professionally, if we are intentional.

In Proverbs 1.20-21 we read that the call from wisdom – portrayed as a female – is open to all. It’s very public. Anyone of us can answer the call of wisdom!

My relationship with work

When I’m consumed WITH my work I will eventually be consumed BY my work!

Today’s Observation: We should carefully consider our priorities.

Ecclesiastes 2.4-11 describes Solomon’s wealth and accomplishments. So what? Well, he summarized it all as being empty and unprofitable, that’s what!

The essence of leadership!

“Leadership is Influence” not positional power.

As we are witnessing in world events, unchecked power corrupts.

Today’s Observation: True influence is based on the servant leader model, not the power model.

Proverbs 20.28 observes that influential leadership is marked by mercy and truth. Thus, viciousness and lying make for quickly disdained leaders.
