Fall colors, clear sky

We’ll continue to solve the wrong problem until we realize that finding root cause is essential!

That’s obvious!

We continue to tamper around with symptoms until we identify root cause for our life outcomes. That misidentification leads to persistent problems, as well as frustration and confusion about what’s next.

For example, in Proverbs 24.30-34 we see problems flowing from neglect. The problems are visible to all, Verse 31. Worse yet, that neglect is cumulative, Verse 33, thus not the result of a single event. The outcomes, Verse 34, are overwhelming and relentless. The problems follow us around!

Therefore, moving to a new location, changing jobs, or finding the “perfect” partner aren’t the answer. Why? Because there has been no change in who we are, thus no change in the behaviors that flow out of who we are!

Poor character generates lots of bad choices that, over time, create bad outcomes! Proverbs 24.30-34 paraphrase, proverbsforprofessionals.net

Identifying Root Cause

Here, the symptom is neglect of a productive asset, Verse 31, that’s attributed to being unmotivated, Verse 30. However, the lack of motivation is rooted in poor character, also Verse 30. Here, being lazy reflects a lack of character transformation. As such, an unchanged heart is literally the heart of the problem!

That’s nice, but how do we reach this conclusion? How do we identify root cause? See Verse 32. In short, we learn from observation. We allow life to teach us by building thoughtful observation skills. What guides our reflection? For starters, experiential insight and discernment.

The root of being overwhelmed is often our poor choices, paired with self-will and stubbornness. We must admit we put ourself there before looking for a way out. proverbsforprofessionals.net

Notice the connection between an underdeveloped character and a lack of motivation.

Don’t miss how the multiplication principle works in life – here to produce undesirable outcomes. Remember, life experience is a relentless teacher for both good and bad!

Persistent problems are a signal of a deeper, unaddressed, life issue. Don’t live there!
