After the death of Moses, God called Joshua to lead. Thus, this transition in leadership was divine choice.

Now, Joshua’s charge is found in Joshua 1.5-9.

First, God promised him influence and support, 1.5.

Second, Joshua was told – three times – to be courageous, 1.6, 1.7, and 1.9.

Third, he’s told to reflect on and do the basics, 1.7-8.

Serving Wisely

Because of his diligence, Joshua learned to behave himself wisely. Here, behaving wisely is linked to courage and confidence.

As such, to be a success, a leader must act with courage.

Basically, impactful leaders see the link between decisiveness and courage.

Moreover, those two traits rest on doing the basics of wise behavior.

2). Focus on the essentials, then

3). Be action oriented.

Courageous Leadership

And, I do it with a clear calling to where I have a real impact.

Conversely, I’m not driven by fear; see Joshua 1.9.

Instead, I’m decisive, 1.10-11. As a result, influential, 1.16-18.

So, let’s be clear. Impactful leadership comes from confidence, courage, and concentration.

In turn, those three yield decisiveness. Additionally, that wise behavior yields success for a leader.

In short, leadership success is an outcome of fearlessly living a principles-based life.
